The War Scroll no longer always has 7 Segments. Instead, we have adjusted to a system where Segments are added to the War Scroll only as needed based upon the Speeds present at the time.

Allotment for Spiritual Effects has been simplified. The numbers are now much smaller and much easier to wield. We can do this thanks to the addition of Fortitude, making Fortitude also have a similar function to SPP for a Minstrel. We can compare the total combined Allotments to Fortitude instead of the larger Resolve value. I didn't want to add another War Attribute, but since we already needed to, we now have another wonderful use for it!

Spiritual Effects now have a simple Complexity (ironic wording, I know) that can limit the number of Spiritual Effects a Ministering Spirit can be using at one time.

  • This Complexity is combined with the Complexity of Songs in the case of a Minstrel-Ministering Spirit or a character who otherwise ends up using both Spiritual Effect and Songs simultaneously.
  • Complexities will be simple 10's reflective of the Tier of the Spiritual Effect. The exception will be Compounding Spiritual Effects being used on only one Target, which will have half Complexity.
    • (With Songs, the possible SPP investment is uniform reflective of a Song's Tier and the Complexity varies. With Spiritual Effects, the Allotment varies and the Complexity will be uniform reflective of a Spiritual Effect's Tier.)
  • Just as Warriors and Messengers are limited in their abilities by Action Points, so Complexity will require characters performing both Spiritual Effects and Songs together to choose how they balance the combined use.

Songs have been reworked further reworked with the priority of trying to help Minstrels feel like active characters while still preserving the immersion of Songs being something that happen and have an effect over time.

  • With this in mind, instead of allowing Songs to only be sung at the beginning of Segment 1 in each Cycle, we are also allowing them to be sung in Segment A, so twice during each Cycle instead of only once.
  • Immediate Songs will last until the next Segment 1 or A comes along. Ongoing Songs will still carry their effects across an entire Cycle, but have more options of when they can start and end a Song.
  • Immediate Songs will have their power adjusted to account for how their resources are freed up more quickly than other Songs.
  • Singing multiple Songs at once will no longer happen all at once, but a Minstrel will start with a single Song and add others in and fade some out as they go along. The multiple start and end points will make this feel more flowing and less chunky.
  • A Minstrel will be able to start two Songs at once if they have enough excess Control above the combined Complexities.

Multiple benefits have been added to Warriors and Messengers lately in our recent changes and so Strength in Struggle and Trained Eye no longer need to grow in their effectiveness. Now all Order-specific abilities are static and all of them, whether directly or indirectly, will give less benefit for Multi-Order characters.
