(Host) Honor for Defeating Unholy Elohim

Each enemy that is defeated will award an amount of Honor relative to the threat they posed and the manner in which they were defeated. Each enemy has a Base Honor amount that is then modified by the Host and the total amount divided among the participating characters.

There are more ways to defeat an enemy than bringing their Endurance, Resolve, or Passion down to a negative value. Enemies can be defeated through Influence. They can be defeated in Parley. They can be circumvented or their goals can be thwarted. Each of these ways to defeat the enemy can result in differing Honor rewards.

Depending on the kind of enemy and the circumstances of their defeat, the Host will determine the best modifiers to apply to the base Honor earned. The modifiers below are guidelines, not rules. If the Host thinks the circumstances warrant, they can flex these modifiers. For example, if a character was brought to the brink of Defeat and decided to surrender to the players the Host may decide to award the x2 for defeat in War because the characters did essentially defeat them through War.

Enemy Type Modifiers

  • Groups = x0.5 Modifier per Group member

  • Archon = x1.25 Modifier

  • Chief Archon = x1.5 Modifier

  • Generic and/or Favored Abilities* = x0.75 Modifier for one or x0.5 for both

Defeat Condition Modifiers

  • Defeated in War = x2 Modifier

  • Surrendered or Withdrawn = x1 Modifier

  • Defeated in Parley = x1 Modifier

  • Simulated War = x0.5 Modifier

  • Avoided (Mission related) = x1 Modifier

  • Avoided (incidental encounter) = x0 Honor

*Generic enemies do not have a Primary or Secondary Basic Attribute. If an enemy only has Favored Abilities, their Maneuver, Spiritual Effect, and/or Song are limited for ease of use by the Host.

The amount of Honor is considered for each unholy elohim individually. Once the Honor for all unholy elohim is totaled, divide the amount by the number of characters who helped earn the Honor, including NPCs. Again, a Host is free to adjust the division if they determine circumstances warrant an adjustment.

Intention Behind Modifiers

The intent behind many of these modifiers is expressly to value the time of the real human participants. It is not to suggest that certain paths to victory are more or less honorable than others. For example, War is not superior to all other options and to be rewarded more highly. However, War takes longer at the table. If the total Honor awarded were divided into a rate of "Honor per real minute spent", it would quickly become apparent that War, even at a x2 modifier, is actually the least efficient means of gaining Honor.

The intent is not to encourage players to pursue one result over another in order to increase their Honor rewards. If this attitude is detected, the Host should wait to see if other players speak up to address it. If none do, after the Mission, the Host should consider bringing it up during discussion time. The end goal should be obedience to the Most High, not accumulating power. Power accumulation is the desire of rebellious elohim.
