Hold Progression Options

As your Hold progresses, you may reach a level at which you are content with the current maintenance, but would not enjoy progressing further as to do so would add maintenance you do not wish to take on. This is absolutely acceptable. In this event, tell any Hosts who are involved that you do not wish for your Hold to progress to the next milestone. Your Foothold will not be given Honor beyond one point short of that required to achieve the Rank at which the next milestone would occur. 

If you limit the progression of your Hold in this way, your story can still progress. It should not hinder storytelling to any great degree. Holds are intended to provide options for Players who desire increased depth, responsibility, and complexity and to appropriately reward those players for taking it on. They are intended to increase enjoyment, not decrease it.
