Gaining Inspiration & Obstruction Tokens

Inspiration Tokens allow players to shift an instant in the game more into their elohim’s favor. Obstruction Tokens do the same for Archons, but can only used defensively.

Inspiration Tokens

Only player characters are able to gain and use Inspiration Tokens. Player characters start each Day with a number of Inspiration Tokens based upon their Tier. They start with 3, 4, 5, or 7 Inspiration Tokens for Tiers:1-4 respectively.

Player characters can gain further Inspiration in the following ways: 

  • Distribution from the Inspiration Pool

  • +1 Inspiration each time an enemy of at least equal Tier to the character is Defeated

    • If the Defeated enemy is higher Tier than the player character, the character gains an additional +1 Inspiration for each Tier higher

In addition to these means of gaining Inspiration, the Host may also give the group or individual players Inspiration to honor a Player who is really adding to the gaming experience by their enthusiasm or their roleplaying. While this may happen occasionally, it should certainly not be the expected norm. 

A character may not have more than 12 Inspiration Tokens. If they would gain more than 12, any extra is not gained. If the player wishes to avoid missing out on an Inspiration Token, they may immediately spend Inspiration Tokens to reduce their total.

Obstruction Tokens

Only Archons are able to gain and use Obstruction Tokens. Archons always start with a number of Obstruction Tokens based upon their Tier. They start with 3, 6, 9, or 12 Inspiration Tokens for Tiers 1-4 respectively.

Archons can gain further Obstruction Tokens in the following manner: 

  • Distribution from the Obstruction Pool

  • +1 Obstruction Token each time a player character or holy NPC of at least equal Tier to the Archon is Defeated

    • If the Defeated character is higher Tier than the Archon, the Archon gains an additional +1 Obstruction Token for each Tier higher

An Archon may not have more than 12 Obstruction Tokens. If they would gain more than 12, any extra is not gained. The Host may immediately spend Obstruction Tokens to avoid the Archon missing out on Obstruction Tokens.
