Introduction to Martial Maneuvers

Warriors and Messengers can learn martial Maneuvers which can be mastered to give them advantages during War. Which Maneuvers an elohim can use at any time are limited by the Fighting Style in which the elohim is manifesting their weapon. Maneuver groupings are as follows: General, Two-Handed, Dual-Wielding, Shield Bearing, and Ranged.

General Maneuvers can be used while in any Fighting Style to perform a Melee Strike (or defend against one, in the case of Parry).

Two-Handed Maneuvers can be use in Melee interactions with weapons that are manifested such that they require two hands to wield. This is to represent a focus on powerful Strikes. Only Warriors can learn Two-Handed Maneuvers.

Dual-Wielding Maneuvers can be used in Melee interactions with weapons that are manifested by having one of that weapon held in each hand. This is to represent a focus on quick or versatile Strikes.

Shield Bearing Maneuvers can be used in Melee interactions with a weapon manifested in one hand and a shield manifested in the other. This is to represent a focus on taking advantage of a strong defense. While the Sling is not Melee, some Shield Bearing Maneuvers can be used with a Sling manifested.

Ranged Maneuvers can be used when performing Ranged Strikes. Like General Maneuvers, Ranged Maneuvers can be used without regard to the Fighting Style being employed.

When creating a Warrior and/or Messenger, you can select Maneuvers that your character will have learned at mastery Level 1. Your character will learn further Maneuvers and master ones he has already learned as he increases in Rank. A pure Warrior or a Dual-Order elohim that includes Warrior may start out knowing 3 Maneuvers. All other elohim that include Warrior and/or Messenger start knowing 2 Maneuvers.
